At 19:00 last night, the South African President has placed South Africa in a State of Disaster. In his National Address, he detailed that all schools and Universities will close as of Wednesday 18th March 2020 and will reopen after the Easter Holidays (Tuesday 14th April 2020). It is therefore assumed that with the opening of schools, that the ban on public events of more than 100 people will be lifted on the wedding and events industry and business will return to normal.
In the meantime, by order of our President and the Government of South Africa, Inimitable will be closing its doors to all weddings and events from Wednesday 18th March to Tuesday 14th April.
This exceptional decision by our President shows forethought and insight into the current global situation and it is the firm belief by many that this 28-day shut-down period will result in a majorly decreased infection rate and that life in South Africa will return to normal. Therefore, Inimitable will still be honouring all wedding dates from 14 April 2020 onwards. We feel morally and legally obliged to take the Presidents guidelines seriously and to follow the State of Disaster Laws.
Inimitable, along with its entire staff and management team have agreed to open dates wherever possible to accommodate those directly affected by the nation-wide shut down period and will be in touch with all couples with weddings between 18 March 2020 and 14 April 2020, regarding the offering of a change in date/postponement.
We are in constant communication with the National Government’s Covid-19 hotline to ensure that we are up to date with any and all changes to this national shut down period and will be keeping all clients up to date on this, via our social media platforms and on our website’s blog.
When schools re-open after the Easter Weekend (Tuesday 14th April 2020), the hosting of events of 100 people or more, as far as it is to be understood from the President’s Announcement, will be once again permitted and we look forward to opening our gates again and hosting incredible weddings.
Inimitable remains dedicated to ensuring that the venue remain clean, sanitized and a healthy environment for all. As per our last press release, we will ensure that:
Inimitable works closely with Food By Andrew Draper and an external Food Safety company based in Edenvale, who consistently place checks and methods to ensure that the Food Safety and kitchen cleanliness are always up to and exceed regulation standards. All staff at Food by Andrew Draper are trained in Food Safety and will continue to follow all and any updates of food safety regulations relating to Covid-19. We are bound by H.A.C.C.P and work strictly within their guidelines.
You will notice that regularly throughout the week as well as every 3 hours during a wedding or function, staff will be sanitising all balustrades, hand rails, bar counters, cocktail tables, bathroom surfaces etc. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the smell of disinfectant, but believe this is the responsible thing to do.
Hand sanitizer/sanitising soaps will be available to clients in all bathrooms. Sanitisers will also be available in public spaces such as bars. We encourage all guests to “be wise and sanitise.”
Our office spaces are sanitised hourly and our staff are supplied with sanitizer at all times. Protecting our staff is part of our promise to ensure that your wedding will not be affected by Covid-19.
NEW Hospital-Standard floor and surface disinfectant has been purchased by the venue to ensure that all surfaces are sprayed every 8 hours. This includes all cutlery, glassware, drinks etc.
Waiters will also constantly supply guests with hand sanitizers so that all guests have constant access to a safe and healthy environment.
The health and safety of all guests and staff at our venue will always be of the utmost importance. Inimitable continues to offer you our ultimate policy that we will always “Lead with Love” and will do absolutely everything in our power to ensure that your wedding experience is still magical and everything you ever dreamed of.
We support President Ramaphosa's call to defeat fear and ignorance. Neither will benefit or help this historic disaster we have to overcome.
President Ramaphosa has given us a clear and solid blueprint to work from. It is now up to each and every South African to play our part in making sure we look after ourselves and those around us as we battle an unprecedented threat in the next few weeks.
Kindest regards and wishes to you all
John, Zavion and Christo
